Here I left you some Hayden's quotes related with her support to the cause, promoting the campaign to save the whales and talking about whaling and whales saving.
- “So go the oceans, so goes life on Earth. Please join us in our fight to save these beautiful creatures, and preserve the quality of life in this world for our children, and generations to come!”
- “My mission is to end whaling worldwide, while raising public awareness to all the other threats dolphins and whales face including toxic pollution, noise pollution, global warming, loss of habitat, entanglement in fishing nets and potential extinction… Raise your voice; it’s time to Save the Whales… AGAIN!”
- “Not only are these animals being cruelly slaughtered, the meat is contaminated by huge levels of mercury,” Hayden, speaking without notes, told the crowd. She continued “And we’re not taking a stand because Japan is one of our biggest allies in the war on terror, but Australia is an ally and they’ve told Japan what they think, and good on them!”
As for her confronting Japanese fisherman last fall, to protest the killing of dolphins – the incident let to a warrant for her arrest – Panettiere told the crowd at the rally: “I was wearing a wetsuit and shoes. I was like if I’m going to jail I ain’t going to jail in a bikini.”
- As you probablly know, on October 28th 2007, Hayden and five other surfers tried to disrupt the annual Japanese dolphin slaughter, in which more than 22,000 of the gentle animals are killed yearly. The brave six paddled out on their boards to try to reach a pod of dolphins before they were forced into a cove to be killed but were blocked by the fishermen who even tried to whack them with a boathook. After heading back to the beach, the surfers gave a brief interview before quickly heading to the Osaka airport. “It was really frightening," Hayden told reporters. "Some of us were hit by the boathook. But in the end all we really worried about was the dolphins.”
"It was so incredibly sad. We were so close to them and they were sky hopping, jumping out of the water to see us.” It gets worse. At this point she tried to hold back the tears and added, “One little baby dolphin stuck his head out and kinda looked at me and the thought that it's no longer with us is really hard to take. How could you kill a dolphin???!!! Let alone a baby dolphin...they are heartless monsters if you ask me.”
